A lucky mother and son were both jumping for joy after winning £30,000 each playing People’s Postcode Lottery.
Sixty-year-old Kathleen Miller and son Paul, 35, hit the jackpot after their postcodeL30 3SQ in Bootle, Merseyside, came up trumps.
And Kathleen was quick to admit she only started playing after her boy persuaded her to.
She said: “My son started playing People’s Postcode Lottery and encouraged me to sign-up too. And am I glad I did. I’ve already got my other friends and family to join up as not only are charities benefitting, we could all be winners again too!
“I’m off to Abu Dhabi to see my sister so it’s great knowing I can come back and not have to worry about money. Having my son win at the same time is also lovely as we can all celebrate together.”
Dad-of-one Paul said he hoped to save some of his winnings – but also planned to spoil his son.
He added: “Winning it with my mum just makes it that extra bit special. I’ll definitely be spoiling my own son, but I’ll try to be sensible and put a little bit away too.”
People’s Postcode Lottery ambassador Matt Johnson visited the pair to dish out the cheques. He said: “Handing out prizes is always an exciting time! I got to sit down with Kathleen and her son for a cup of tea and hear about their plans to treat themselves!
“It’s thanks to players like these neighbours that we’re able to continually support local charities and causes. Everyone’s a winner and it’s a pleasure to keep meeting such lovely winners across Great Britain.”
The prize was part of People’s Postcode Lottery’s special Christmas campaign where one postcode was drawn every day to win £30,000 per ticket throughout the December draws last year.
People’s Postcode Lottery costs £10 a month to play and there are guaranteed winners every day. People play with their chosen postcode and are automatically entered into all draws.
A minimum of 33% from each ticket goes to charity and players have raised more than £750million for over 9,000 charities and good causes since 2005.
